How to be attain success as an athlete

People enjoy watching great athletes. It would seem like that some of their moves at times are impossible for a human to do.  But in reality some of the champions are no better then their competition physically.  The secret to top performances is in the mind.  What most people don’t realize is that people succeed or fail based upon how strong their mindset is.

Let us consider some cases.  As a family therapist San Diego I see it all the time with student athletes. You encounter kids are really physically gifted. But a lot of times they do not achieve success because their mental toughness hinders them.  We see it all the time in professional sports.  You have great athletes who repeatedly fail to win the big game.Even if they are touted as one of the best in their said sports.  When it comes time to win the big one, they can’t do it mentally.  The ones that do succeed are the ones that realize the importance of mind and body.

That is why as a San Diego sports psychology I have so many clients come in who need a breakthrough. They are gifted physically but for some reason can’t capitalize on it.Most of the time the reason is because they are mentally inferior. That is where my service can help struggling athletes like them.  Because a lot of times it is a mental block they need to beat.Once they get past that hurdle then they can start to become more successful.

Or another problem that I see in athletes is they let their anger get the best of them.If they can’t control what they are feeling while they are playing then it would lead to poor performances on the playing court.  Doing anger management counseling has allowed me to turn athletes around who were letting anger get the best of them. But if they just find some help mentally then that just might be the key for their success.

Ways to manage a person’s anger

Anger is one of those things that is experienced by everyone.  Everyone at some point loses their control of their anger. It is just natural. What’s not good about it is when they become angry always. That would be the time when you could harm someone close to you.  But not only can it be hurtful emotionally, but physically as well.  With that in mind here are some anger management tips for you to use.

Controlling one’s anger is difficult to do.  That is why my anger management counseling practice gets so many people with anger issues.  But there is hope.Even if it seems like it is uncontrollable there are ways to control it.First thing you must do is to admit that you are stressed.Stress is one of the causes of uncontrollable anger.By knowing that you are stressed you will know the ways on how to control your anger.

Another way you can cope with anger is to learn how to respond and not to react.  It is one of the biggest techniques I teach for my family counselor San Diego practice.  What it means is to think about situations rather than instinctively reacting to it.By thinking first about how you would react would lead to a better response. So that your reaction would make the situation better rather than make it worse.

Another thing that causes anger is depression.More often than not, people affected with depression becomes angry most of the time. The reason for this is because depressed people feel that they have no hope in life and that they become angry at everything.  I see this all the time doing depression counselor. So you fight this by addressing the situation that is causing depression.

Taking to heart these steps would make you cope with your anger easier. Anger is a hard emotion to control.  That is why so many suffer from anger management issues.  But by understanding your problems you can begin to fight those emotions. And in doing so, you will not let anger hurt you or your loved ones.

Problems that anger and depression can cause

One of the things that can sometimes be good or, at other times, be very bad is emotions.  Things like love, joy, happiness are wonderful emotions. But you also have emotions like anger, sadness, and depression. They are also emotions but they can be hard to handle at times.People are able to control it most of the time. But there can be situations which make these emotions dangerous.

For example, depression is a tough situation to get out of.  It can be caused by a tragic event in someone’s life.Tragedies or events like losing a loved one can trigger it.  Or sometimes it can be a chemical imbalance.  One dangerous emotion that happened in the news is when a man whose depression turned to anger.  His situation seemed hopeless to him and so that his depression turned to anger. He went berserk and he hurt some people.  That is an extreme case but it happens.  That is why as a depression counseling I try to tackle the problem head on before it can turn into anger.

Well the times it does turn into anger then you have to move into another form of counseling.  And that form is anger management San Diego help.Because unlike depression where the affected person’s mood is always passive.Anger have the ability to hurt others and can sometimes be fatal. So if one is angry all the time without any real provocation then he/she must deal with it immedaitely and seek help before it gets any worse for him/her.

Of course in my family counselor San Diego practice I see a full range of emotions.  Usually it is when it is affecting the family life. The is the time that counseling is needed. One thing that you wouldn’t and should not want to happen to your family is let it be ripped apart because of uncontrollable emotons. And the goal of every one counselor out there is stop it in its tracks while still early.  A good thoughtful counseling program can do that and save many families. It has happened time and time again with the help of good and effective counseling.

What makes one successful and one fail in sports

Sports and finding out how to succeed is a real funny thing.  You can have a superb athlete who can’t find success. Then you could have an athlete who is average and yet they succeed. At first glance you can’t seem to explain it.  But upon a closer look you see the main reason for success and failure has been the mind.  But why is that?  In this article we shall take a look into that.

So what is the reason the mind has become so important in sports?  As a San Diego sports psychology I have been priveleged to see first hand why this is so.First thing to realize is the fact that the stereotype of big dumb athletes is false.  Athletes are some of the brightest individuals around.  And the most successful ones use are successful because they know how to use the mind.

Funny thing a lot of athletes come in needing my anger managementcounseling practice.Quite a few times the anger begins because they have failures in sports. But what I have been able to do is help people to turn it around. The way to help them get back on track is to show them the reason for failure starts in the mind.By learning how to use the mind effectively, they can accomplish great things.  It has been proven time and time again.

Once the athlete is truly able to understand the power their mind has they can achieve success.  Most of the time they can achieve tremendous success. It is similar to how things are in life generally.  The mind has so much impact on actions and results.I see that it doesn’t just happen with athletes, but it also affects with some families I deal with.  The family therapist San Diego practice I run I have used some of the same principles to help families achieve success.Success in being able to deal with any family struggles that happen. In life as well as in sports the key to most things is your mind.

Anger management and its effects on family

One thing that all people have is their emotions. Some people have the tendency to display more of their emtions in public. Some emotions can be good when displayed like happiness. Some people show emotions like happiness, excitement, or laughter.  Others show emotions of sadness or anger. Most people experience these emotions but sometimes they get out of hand. Anger is one of these emotions.

As you have read in this article anger can be dangerous and detrimental to family life. In my practice doing anger management counseling I have seen the effects it can have on a family. It could make staying with that person very very uncomfortable for the people staying with him/her. It could make everybody afraid to say the wrong thing. It make a place of safety into something that is negative. The place of safety I’m referring to is our homes.

It may be surprising but anger sometimes stems from an emotional issue like depression. Whatever reason it may be but the case is that this person is depressed. Once they find they don’t see a way out of it often times that depression can turn into anger. That is why I advice everyone feeling depression to seek a depression counseling. The best way is to stop something before it gets worse. Because sometimes it just does not lead into anger but into something where they eventually hurt themselves.

Whether or not anger stems from depression the case is that these two emotions should be dealt with professionaly. If you let these two emotions eat your personality then it will definitely get worse for you and your family. It will destroy your relationship with your family. It can destroy relationships.  Being a family counselor in San Diego I stress the importance of good relationships in family life. So I stress to you that any kind of emotional issues be dealt with immediately. Sometimes it is hard to go to someone for help. But this can be very helpful in the long especially for the family of and the person affected.

Benefits of anger management especially on families

One thing people have in common is enotions. Some people have the tendency to display more of their emtions in public.  For some emotions it is good.  Some people show emotions of excitement and happiness.Other people tend to show more sadness or more anger than happiness. All people express emotions but sometimes they go too far. Emotions like anger belong to these category.

As you shall see in this article anger can have horrible effects on family life. In my practice doing anger management counseling I have seen the effects it can have on a family. It could make staying with that person very very uncomfortable for the people staying with him/her. It makes everybody nervous and afraid to say something because they might get scolded. It can turn a place of safety into a place where there is always negativity and anger. The place of safety I’m referring to is our homes.

Strange as it may seem but in a few cases this anger stems from some sort of depression. Whatever the case may be a person might be in a depressed mode. Once they do not see a solution to a problem most of the time it leads to anger. That is why I advice everyone feeling depression to seek a depression counseling. It is best to stop something before it escalates into a bigger problem which is harder to solve. Because it might not just translate into anger but into something more serious like when they hurt themselves.

Whether or not anger stems from depression the case is that these two emotions should be dealt with professionaly. If you let either of the two emotions get the best of you and do not seek help then it will definitely get worse. It can ruin your family. It can break a very good relationship.  Being a family counselor in San Diego I stress the importance of good relationships in family life. So obviously I stress dealing with all emotional issues immediately. Sometimes it is hard to go to someone for help. But this can be very helpful in the long especially for the family of and the person affected.

Benefits of sports psychology

One of the unique thing about sports is the mental aspect of the game.  We have all seen talented athletes fail miserably. Usually the reason was in their mind. Most of the times an inferior athlete was able to defeat them because the physically inferior player had a stronger mental attitude. This is the time when sports psychology is needed. It can teach athletes that to reach their maximum potential abilities they have to attain the right state of mind first.

In my San Diego sports psychologist practice I have seen athletes turn around their performance by applying some mental conditioning.  An athlete who was struggling in performance was able to turn around their results.  This was a direct result of applied sports psychology.

Psychology can help in two ways. One way it can help is through the mental aspect whenever the player is on the court or field.  It can also help in the concentration and relaxation part of their game.

So as part of my San Diego family therapist practice there are many people who come in wanting to reach that peak performance. Applying the techniques has shown remarkable improvement in their performance.Of ocurse there are some cases which turned out to be unsuccessful. But almost all of the cases has been successful.

As strange as it sounds this area of psychology actually helps teens as well. It is not necessarily about sports. The circumstances provided by adolescent years and trying to be successful in sports are just similar.  So this has helped teens in my anger management San Diego services as well.

So if you are looking for improved performance sometimes this is what can help. The mental tougness is oftentimes what brings success to a player rather than his/her physical gifts and abilities. You can have the most talented player in the whole world. Their performance will not be good or excellent if their mental strength is lacking.Mental ability is the top reason why we succeed in life.

Anger & Depression – emotions which can wreak havoc if not given attention

Depression and anger are both negative emotions. But they seem to be on opposite sides.  One of the emotions can be very visible. While the other one can be unnoticed.

As a family counselor San Diego I have seen both emotions. Both of them if too serious need addressing. These are not problems which someone can just ignore. When you are angry you can hurt other people. You can harm yourself if depressed.

Let’s talk about anger first. Anger is an emotion which can be explosive. It is natural and it happens to all of us.But people sometimes release all their pent up anger. It could seem uncontrollable sometimes. If you let it get the best of you then that’s a problem. But those will be the times when you have to control.Other people can be hurt physically or emotionally due to anger.  If it gets too much you need to seek some anger management San Diego.

The other emotion is depression. It may be unnoticed not like anger where it is very obvious when experienced.Holding in their depression is one of the top reasons.Of course it can get noticeable. When it becomes noticeable, then that would be the time that someone have to seek professional help. Why would a depressed person need professional help?Because harm can be done by a severely depressed person to himself or herself.People hide it that’s why it is or can be dangerous.  If a person gets to the point of severe depression they need professional help such as depression counselor.

It can be hard on someone to deal with emotional problems.  Most people going through these types of problems feel like they can work it out.Or they feel like they can solve their problems on their own.But at that point they need all the help they can get.  It is a hard thing for them to accept. But when you are dealing with emotions that can hurt the affected and the people around him, then you need to do it.

Anger and depression-emotions that can get out of control

As people we have been blessed with things such as emotions.  We have positive emotions. But we also experience emotions that are negative. In this article, let us take a closer look at some emotions that can become negative.

Why we need to take a look at these two is because they are emotions that could need professional help.We all have gone through joys.We all can go through emotions like sadness. We have our moments when we can experience anger as well. But sometimes there will be occassions when our emotions get the best of us.  This is speaking from experience being a family therapist San Diego.

First lets examine the emotion of anger. This is an emotion that is extremely volatile.Everyone has experienced this emotion. But for quite a few people it is possible that it will get the best of them.  When I say get the best of them I mean they get out of control. They often times may take their anger and express it in violent terms. That is why it is so dangerous.  I have seen it go too far too many times doing anger management counseling. That is the moment when it must be handled professionally.  Because it can cause damage to other people.

The other emotion is depression.  Doing depression counselor has allowed me to see how this emotion can be dangerous as well.  Usually this emotion doesn’t hurt other people directly.  But this emotion can cause somebody to hurt themselves.  There are many causes.A chemical imbalance can be it’s cause on a few occassions.  That is when it needs to be treated with medicine.  Or it can be an event that causes the depression.Either situation, when there is someone who experiences it, they could need some help.

As you can plainly tell these emotions need to be kept in check.Doesn’t matter if it is anger or depression, both of those emotions can cause serious problems.Either to people that are around you or yourself.  So if you see somebody experiencing these emotions excessively, they may need counseling.  It is best for everyone.

Emotional Hurdles of Today

One of the special things we get to experience as human beings are emotions. Emotions are very powerful parts of being human.Emotions that we experience like joy, love, anger or even pain. are very powerful emotions we experience. But quite a few times it is because of that very fact that we are emotional that can lead to problems.

I would like to address a couple of strong emotions that sometimes needs professional help.  They are anger and depression.  Two seemingly different types of emotions but both can lead to major problems.  I have seen it first hand as a therapist San Diego.

I say it can lead to major problems because they both can lead to violence.  In the case of anger it can lead to violence against others. In situations of depression, the results can be use of violence against themselves.

When you are addressing a situation like anger, it can be a very sticky situation.  As mentioned earlier, it is an emotion you need to control.Because as we are well aware of, a few people, when angry, can do some bad things. It does not necessarily need to be physical, it also can come in the form of emotions.  If that is the case you need to address it through anger management counseling.

Now in regards to depression, this is a dangerous problem as well.It is a dangerous problems, because sometimes you might not even know about it.In others words you could possibly not even know when someone you love is going through depression.  When that happens, terrible things happen that weren’t expected.Problems like suicide.  I have seen it happen to often doing depression counseling.

If you sense you are in a state of depression, treat it immediately.Because before you can even think about it, the situation could have gone too far.The people you know and love may not even be aware of it.  When that happens it can be too late.So treat it early and quickly.  It can be helped.

As you will notice, emotions are in general good things.  But they also can cause problems.  By learning to deal with the problem emotions can be helpful. It doesn’t matter if you address it yourself or by another person, just make sure to take care of it.
